If Italy is a boot, Puglia is the sun-blessed heel on the Adriatic coast. There's much noise about it being an "up and coming" wine region but in truth, the wine is already phenomenal and it's the international spotlight that's been slow to fix its focus here. There's a wide range of indigenous grapes that aren't found elsewhere, Verdeca being among the more obscure of these. In Paloleo's version, extroverted, almost tropical aromatics transfix the drinker while the palate itself is equal parts electric vibrancy, cooling herbality and textural expanse. It loves pasta almost as much as you do, and it's ready to provide frisky counterpoint to this month's features.
