This delicate but structured red comes from the region of Piemonte in Northern Italy. While combining half a dozen of the region’s grape varieties, the star of the show is Nebbiolo which gives ethereal, savoury flavours while additions of Dolcetto and Barbera add delicate black fruits and spice.
The silky but present tannin is the perfect foil for the richness of the duck and the delicate flavours are just right not to overwhelm. G.D. Vajra, which is a family-run estate and one of the first to practice organically in the region (since 1971!) has perfectly captured the essence of Langhe in this wine. For maximum enjoyment throw this in your fridge for 25 minutes to put a light chill on the bottle.
