Colpetrone Grechetto Umbria IGT

Colpetrone is the Umbrian estate of Tenuta del Cerro which owns 5 unique estates across Italy. Established in 1995, Colpetrone is most known for its deep, tannic red wines made from Sagrantino in the Montefalco DOCG. This wine, however, is the polar opposite of dense, sanguine Sagrantino. Made of 90% Grechetto blended with 10% Chardonnay under the Grechetto Umbria IGT classification, this wine is light bodied with distinct minerality.

Grechetto is known to give ripe fruit and nutty characteristics, which enhance the savoury nature of this wine. The grapes are harvested by hand from vineyards around Gualdo Cattaneo. After fermentation, the wine is aged three months in tank on its lees with regular battonage. On the nose you'll find notes of acacia, pine nut, and pear. Peachy-floral flavours with hints of hazelnut follow through on the palate.
