2023 Pyrène "La Vie en Rose" Négrette Rosé - Southwest France 

Quirky indigenous grapes and obscure appellations abound in the southwestern corner of France. The rosé in question, a solo expression of the Négrette grape from the foothills surrounding Toulouse, is a perfect example. Its capacity to refresh is consummate and expected, but it transcends the innocuousness of most pink wine by weaving appealingly herbal threads amidst delicate flavours of red berries — as if innocent grape juice naturally fermented into a strawberry mojito.
